I had am issue with my S60 start/stop constantly charging, I checked the voltage of the main battery and decided to try a new battery (AGM), initially the start stopped worked, then was on charging again.
after extensively looking for a solution (or possible cause), I found a site saying to reset to BMS (Battery monitoring system).
I followed these instructions and it seems to of cured my issue:

Reset the battery monitoring system:
1) Switch on ignition (Do not start engine)
2) Switch on dipped beam
3) Press 5x the rear for light button (do not switch 5x on and off the rear for light)
4) Press 3x hazard light buttons (do not switch 3x on and off hazard lights)
5) Then the battery symbol in the speedometer should flash 3x quickly

(I did it twice and it worked on second time)

This worked for my “Start / Stop” always showing as charging, I hope that it can help you too.

The battery monitor data is simply reset to zero by removing the battery terminal for a moment ...

This is an interesting thread for me also.
My stop-start stopped activating during the lockdown. I replaced the main battery as a precaution assuming was still the original, and set up an overnight battery conditioner. All has been well, until recently, when it only worked occasionally again - even after an hour's fast drive. I've not used the conditioner for a while. Now I've started getting "Low battery" warning as well. It may be nothing of concern, but it gets a bit worrisome when sitting parked and the radio switches itself off. The annoying bit is that you can't start tinkering with buttons at traffic lights!
