Xenon failure
My 2005 XC90 has xenon headlights. Today I have noticed that the passenger headlamp has a "pink" glow when on.
Does this mean that it is about to break? I am sure I haven't noticed this before. So my other questions are; 1. Is it expensive to replace? 2. Do I need to get a dealer to do it or can I get my husband to change it? (He is pretty good with cars having built a couple of Caterham's. Any help and advice would be appreciated. |

Bulbs are dead easy to replace on the XC90. Lift the 2 pins, unplug the single harness connector on the the front panel (pull up the red tab), take the light to the dining room table and change the bulb at your leisure (just hope Lindsey doesn't find out were I did the last one on ours......).
Regards, Rob.

Thanks.
I have read elsewhere that a dealer should replace the bulb. Is this correct or can my husband do it? Where is the best place to get bulbs and what should I expect to pay? |

Depends on type of lamps ie standard, xenon or gas discharge most husbands should be capable of doing on XC90 as 400-ascona said just a matter of getting correct lamps.

Just don't buy the bulb from Volvo. You can get recognised brand bulbs for between £40 & £60.
You will be impressed how easy it is to do.
