Default To run or not to run?

I won’t be using my car (XC60 D4 Diesel) for many weeks in the current virus situation so apart from keeping the battery topped up is it a good idea to run the engine now and again in the driveway to keep things lubricated or does that do more harm than good because the engine and exhaust won’t achieve a normal working temperature?

My mrs went to take daughters Kia which has been sitting for a few weeks now to her work. It wouldn't start so she took her old faithful bmw. She has been sending us messages all day about how her car beats our newer ones. Haven't had the heart to tell her daughters car started first time when we went out to it. She didn't have clutch in so it wouldn't turn over....

Leave it. Starting a diesel and not doing a few decent miles on it is not the best thing. If this malarkey carries on for a while you might wish to consider a maintenance charger for the battery.

CTEK mxs 5.0 every time. Worth every penny. Had it over two years.

Amazon have increased the price by £14 to £77 in the last week or so (wonder why!). Smarterchargers.co.uk or Tayna are about £69 incl delivery
