Maindealer will have to recode key back to cars ECU (assuming that is the original key),A new fob will not be cheap.

The fob is now useless , internal fault .. , it cant be programmed into anything even if it was working .. so a new one will be required ..

They will re-code the fob to the cars ECU - not cheap from what I've been told. I had an old Rover 214 and a new fob and re-programming cost me £96 from a main dealer - probably double (or triple ) that for Volvo to do same !!

not quite .. The fob cannot be programmed back to the car they only work on the car they were originaly programmed to , maybe yours is one the car dealer found in a box and belongs to another car .
When you buy a new fob it comes witha code number which is used to program it via a volvo only software download .. If your V70 chassis number is below chassis number 045075 send me a PM .. thanks.
