Default secondhand V70 new owner...keyfob problem..

Hi all, I bought a 2001 V70 yesterday at a car auction...the car came with one key and one keyfob...the keyfob still wont operate the doors or alarm even after fitting a new battery...what should I try next??

I dont have the logbook yet or any other documentation...

Maindealer will have to recode key back to cars ECU (assuming that is the original key),A new fob will not be cheap.

sorry I never explained myself properly...the key works everything on the car okay...the remote fob dont work anything...

The fob is now useless , internal fault .. , it cant be programmed into anything even if it was working .. so a new one will be required ..

Er Yes that's what Clan said !

They will re-code the fob to the cars ECU - not cheap from what I've been told. I had an old Rover 214 and a new fob and re-programming cost me £96 from a main dealer - probably double (or triple ) that for Volvo to do same !!

Thanks malc...I wanted to know if it was Volvo dealer ONLY or was there anyone else I could try who could do it cheaper

not quite .. The fob cannot be programmed back to the car they only work on the car they were originaly programmed to , maybe yours is one the car dealer found in a box and belongs to another car .
When you buy a new fob it comes witha code number which is used to program it via a volvo only software download ..
If your V70 chassis number is below chassis number 045075 send me a PM ..
