Help - How to bring '+' power through the bulkhead
Hi All.
Not sure where to go with this, I need to bring '+' power on my 2019 XC40, into the car from the main under bonnet fuse box but cannot see a way through the bulkhead. Anyone got an idea or who has tried this before? I have picked up '+' from the fuse box and then added a new temporary fuse box (I will remove it when I sell the car in a few years) the added fuse box gives me fixed connections to be able to safely add a screen camera and a fixed charger for my phone. Thanks in advance. Regards |

Would it be possible to connect to the fuse box in the passenger side footwell?

Hi 844PHW. Thanks, yes I could but in order to complete the job correctly I always (with other cars) add an additional fuse box which is under the bonnet. It is a simple set up with a 1 point fixed live and 4 separate fused terminals I use for phone charging, Screen Camera and Traffic Alert device. All of the cables are bundled and taped together which is why I have always run them through the bulkhead on previous vehicles. I will have a look and see if there is a way to both pick up an Earth under the passenger seat as well as finding a way of 'trunking' the cables to the under dash area.
Thanks again, regards. |

I just noticed on the XC40 accessory web site that there are no longer any accessories which need a wire running back into the car so you may not have a hole , worth a look though ..

I’m interested to know whether you solved the electrical feed problem and where you found to mount your dashcam? I’d used a dashcam for a couple of years but found that the big plastic dome behind the rear view mirror left me nowhere to mount my camera without blocking my view. |

Have you considered placing the camera immediately on the passenger side of the cover? That is where mine is and it works fine.
