To seal or not to seal, that is the question!
I am after a bit of advice regarding the tailgate window on my 145.
I am in the process of replacing the tailgate and was wondering if I should refit the window with sealant or without? I intend to re-use the rubber that came fitted to the donor tailgate as it is still very soft and supple and would probably be of superior quality to a brand new one? I have cleaned it up thoroughly (in the bath, don't tell the wife!) and refitted the aluminium trim (what a pig of a job!) and it is ready to fit to the tailgate. There was some evidence of light water ingress before it was stripped for painting and as my car will be used in all weathers I don't want it to leak, or worse still, get water under the rubber and rust the replacement tailgate! There was no evidence of any sealant when I removed it and presume it was factory fitted like that? All advice welcomed, including what products people have successfully used if they have done this job already! Many thanks in advance!

I would say that a touch f screen sealant would be a good idea around the rubber. It needs to be a non setting type

Needs sealant
Yep. Non-setting sealant will be needed between glass and rubber as well as rubber to tailgate. The Tex stuff is OK but 3M do a better version. You'll also need a caulking/mastic gun but they're cheap.
