im only 16 but.....
my first car is my 240 glt and my second is my torslanda, over my small lifespan i started off when i was 11 driving a 760 gle which was very nice, i then went on to drive a V70 D5 after turning 14 and recently ive bought and been driving my own 240s and in between 240 ownership ive driven a handful of v70s another D5 and a p reg with the audi engine.

all of these were obviously on private roads. but i must say whilst all of these cars are nice, all having heated leather interiors and well specced. nothing beats a 240 they are really nice cars to drive aside from the torslanda being very low powered

the 240 is just a one of a kind car and more so the glt

but at the end of the day what people buy is up to them.

thankfully i havent sold any of my cars yet so theres nothing to regret

nick

My first Volvo, yep it was a 240 Torslanda on a 'H' plate. It ran faultlessly for 5 years, then I part-ex'd it for an 855T5. The T5 was a great car.................but now my main car is a...................240GL Est. Nuff' said?

None of the more modern Volvo`s have that superb commanding driving position and the classic Volvo box design and simplicity.
Thats what makes a 200 series special.

I really miss my '89 240 GLT saloon, that was an awesome car. I'm not sure what the specific colour was but it was a metallic graphite grey, full black leather, well you don't need me telling you about the spec.

I had it when I was 18, not your usual teenager's type of car, but I loved it.

I'd really like to get my hands on another one, but my girlfriend wouldn't be happy, she just tolerates my 940 (although she would let me swap it for a T5R).

My 745 Turbo Petrol, Beast and a half, Died after Catastrophic failure to the turbo, rear axle and radiator, with a few electric faults to boot.

My old MK4 Escort estate, 78,000 GENUINE serviced miles on the clock, NO RUST!!! (was a heathrow airport runabout) Then I put 25,000 on it before the Mrs made me scrap it.

It seems that RWD or 'Bricks' Still find a place in our hearts, And theyre one of the very few cars about that you can pick out,
Ive noticed, that on the road now its, Ford lookalike, Toyota Generic copy of peugeot, Ford interbred Jaguar, 2WD 4x4 of a generic Range rover chassis, 1887 VOLVO GLT estate (sticks out like a sore thumb, But a good one if that) Plastic Saxo, AND THAT BLUE 262, Daihatsu Generic model based ona toyota chassis, V50 focus thingy (sorry v50 owners). etc....

I thought I was alone.....

I had to bin my 245 GLT about 4 months ago as the propshaft flange at the back of the gearbox went, I couldn't find a secondhand replacement and Yeovil Volvo wanted silly money for a new one.

I "replaced" her with a '96 855 2.5 20v with all leather interior, cd multichanger, etc etc, it's very nice but it's just not the same. I miss those square headlights and the nice surge of acceleration I used to get.

My only consolation is that the engine from G542WTP was going to put put into another 240 whose engine had died.

I'd have another 245 like a shot. Are they suddenly going to become APPRECIATING classics after this thread??
