Hi,

Where abouts on the gauge does your engine temp get to? It should be bang on in the 3 o'clock position! I replaced my thermostat due to this and got 3-4mpg more than I was before, part was only £15 from volvo

I will also agree with the volvo plugs, they retailed at £14 +VAT last year direct from my local volvo dealer. So you don't have to go to ebay to get them cheap!

I've had NGK's in for a year and have no probs with them, my fuel consumption is poor due to worn thermostat, engine temp never gets above 78°C so I think its dumping more fuel in thinking the engine is cold. I really need to get a new thermostat!

Other than that check your brakes aren't binding (You'd be surprised..I had 2 calipers binding!).
