Default New Accessory point needed

Hi all, I think i need a new accessory point in my 08 s80. It seems to work for 1-2 seconds then stops. I have tried different plugs in it and they all do the same.I need it for my phone and ipod.Any ideas how to go about this?

Given the age of the car I'd say you're probably trying to charge a modern phone through a point that's not capable of charging, iirc in the olden days they only gave out 0.5 where an iPhone will need 1.5-2.0.

It has been charging very well since i got it in August. I had a closer look at the socket and it looks a bit dicky (not very shiny).

With the ign off and the key out have you tried ruffin it up a bit with some grit paper? sometimes all it is is they form a oxy coating on the silver centre.

Jim if that doesn't work it could be your actual car battery is ageing and the car is disconnecting non essentials, don't buy a new one on the strength of it but test it if you can, bad batteries do still manage to start cars but when they get asked too much of they start to make the car act up as well.

I sold a 6 month old battery to a mate as I was px'ing a car the next day and he came back to me a week later thinking the battery was bad, when I looked he had 4 power sockets running on an extension and this was significantly lowering what the battery had available at the time, I unplugged the lot and the reading shot straight back up.
