Today I replaced rear brake pads on V70 D5 and while I was there I replaced the solid H bars on the handbrake shoes with the adjustable type. Made a massive difference to my handbrake. Doesn't go all the way up now. Should be no problems for the MOT when comes round next month. Last thing I need to do is replace the wing mirror motor in the drivers side.

Tomorrows job is to check the alternator belt tensioner and alternator pulley.
Changed gearbox mounting, had a quick look at the aux belt tensioner..looks like its been in there a while.
I need to buy a T60 bit to do the tensioner, anyone know what size the mounting bolts are please.

Gibbons method ATF change, it was easier than I expceted. THe stuff that came out was grim, deep brown and pretty stinky. I was not surprised, its done 80k. New oil in and the difference was almost immediate, when putting it into gear it used to rock a little bit, but thats gone, changes are smoother and kickdown seems better. Still got about 10litres left so may do a sump dump in a few hundred miles and see what it looks like. Pretty pleased though.

Sorted out the milked up hazy headlights.. Wet and dry sandpaper.. 400, 800, 1200, 1600 then 2000 always making sure the headlight is wet. One this was done I used a buffing wheel and some rubbing compound which made the lights gleam.. Making sure to seal the end result with some wax. The difference is amazing!

I did my plastic lenses using a 3M kit which worked very well. One thing I did however, was to put some of this on them afterwards to stop the UV attacking them again. I'll probably reapply it once or twice a year.
