wheel nuts stuck
as title. volvo c30. has the two part wheel nuts. the covers have come off some. these nuts undo easily with the smaller socket. but the ones with the cap... a 19mm wont fit on, but the 20mm socket seems to just mash the edges of the tin cover....
Any advice? is there a way to get the ****ty tin covers off and just use an 18mm socket.... well annoyed... probs doesnt help they likely been buzzed on by a tyre place at 200NM... |

Reply to my own thread with an answer. Anyone else with this hassle, just hammer on a 19mm deep aocket. worked a treat.

Do yourself a favour for next time. Either remove the stupid caps or file all the burrs off them so the socket fits again. Of course, better nuts are available on eBay!

A valid point
Ask me again in about a year though. I doubt if they'll have rusted to the point that I can't undo them with the toolkit wheelbrace at the side of the road. |
