Default IPD rollbars

For those of you who have fitted these rollbars have you also changed the springs? Are there any specs out there as I already have a really good spring supplier.

Thanks.

PS Any other tips on improving the handling of a D5 would be appreciated

Mine is a V70 D5 MY 2003.

Came with 'dynamic sports chassis' from factory- so slightly lower and with self levellers on the back.

Changed front shocks to Bilstein B6 Heavy Dutys (designed for standard height springs) http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-V70XC70-...-388-500-3139/- the reviews and descriptions are 100% spot on, and fitted IPD front and rear ARB's, still on original Volvo springs. Have now replaced the ARB drop links with the IPD heavy duty versions.

Haven't replaced springs as I don't need it any lower.

Fitted Ultra Racing strut brace and QBM engine steady bar solid mounts- Shem on T5D5 is making up some washers to modify the existing mount.

Powerflexing the wishbone bushes stops it wandering all over the shop.

LOVE the way it rides and goes round corners.

Hope that helped! lol

Just like to add to this post,

I'm planning to get those IPD roller bars, and also plan to lower my car at the same time, I would like to lower it about 28mm or 30mm max because of concern about local speed humps where I live. Anyone got any suggestions on some good springs?

V70 D5 SE, 2004 (pre-facelift).

I've updated my standard suspension with Eibach Pro springs (from http://www.larkspeed.com). No problems clearing the tank traps where I live. Not obviously lowered but looks better than stock (imho). I just replaced the shocks with direct replacements (Sachs front, Boge rear, from EuroCarParts). Replaced the rubber spring mounts all round with Febi at the same time (EuroCarParts again) but kept my original top mount plates - don't use ScanTech, the quality of the rubber parts is "questionable".

Like Andy I've also got the Ultra-Racing front strut brace (T5D5 group buy), done the "tight northerner" engine stay bar conversion (repair washers from B&Q), polybushed the front end and replaced the Volvo droplinks with IPD versions. Not done the IPD ARB's (yet).

Handling is much better than stock, especially turn in and it retains the long distance comfort. Roll on the ARB's when I can make my mind up if I want front AND rear or just the rear.

Update: just seen the new website at http://kalmar-union.com - everything you need
