Hi 'bye bye baby' yes I'm still here and still have the car. I got fed up of time wasters and cheeky offers so decided to put it on the back-burner and fix it up/MOT it when I get the time. Then it'll be up for sale again.

All I've got round to recently is replacing the coolant temp sensor which has sorted the rich running. I also took the steering rack out to have a look at it and there were no leaks (inside the boots was dry) and there is zero play in the pinion so I'm starting to think it might be the PAS pump.

It looks like a nice car, and if I had the time and money, I'd have it. I wish you luck with the sale and I stand ready to be jealous of the next owner.

Sorry but this isn't entirely true. If your car fails an MOT before its current MOT is due to expire, you can legally still drive it to a "pre-booked place of repair". Once the MOT has expired, you're not legally allowed to drive it on the road.

What Sphynx says is correct, you can drive a car without MOT to a testing centre, and also without tax (as you need the MOT to get a fresh tax disc).

It is however, the only exception. It certainly shouldn't be driven on the road any further than is necessary to get to a testing centre.

I stand corrected. I was just recalling what it used to say on the notice of refusal. Looks like its changed. I am talking years ago mind.

No bother - I've had to exercise this right quite a few times after fixing up non-runners!

Sphynx, keep us posted how you get on with it - it shouldn't take anything too drastic to get it through. Perhaps you should send it for a test now, and see what you get back from it.

hay Sphinx, hope all is goin well with decorating and your fleet of cars, glad you still got the 960, im looking everyday and estates seem to be selling quite fast when they come up, so if i dont have it someone else will.

if its ready in time dude i will make you a sensible offer, as i'd much rather give you some cash than a car salesman or someone asking to much for a tatty one. good luck with the ol girl.
