Low battery
I have just purchased a XC60 D4 NAV, 2017 plate, don,t do much mileage. When sitting in car with engine off listening to radio after only a minute or so get low battery warning, should i be investigating battery life? Seems to be charging ok as no warning lights on or is this just a safety issue as know battery needs full juice for stop/start function?

My car was on the sales frontage long enough to require charging before it started. They obviously only 'topped it up' as I had the same problem and the charging system message (don't remember the exact words) a few days later. Took it down a motorway for a long drive and never had the problem again. touching wood frantically now!

Low mileage will be the problem. Not enough long runs to charge fully.
Go for a long evening or early morning drive on your own, some music and that should do it. Being diesel it will also give your Dpf a good clear out!

As Peter86 says above longer runs to give the battery a good charge would probably sort it.AIUI modern cars will shut down various things[determined as unnecessary-i.e. radio,heating/aircon,stop/start function] if the battery charge gets to/below 70%[I think that's the correct figure]in order to preserve the power to re-start the engine in the normal way.

As above. I recall, from the dim and distant past, that a flat motorcycle battery only fully recharged after around 200 miles (not necessarily in one run!)

Received wisdom is that it takes 20 minutes driving to get the battery back to the state of charge before the engine was started and an hours driving to top up the battery
I think full charge will be longer but I would like to hear an authoritive view on this topic.
