volvo insurance doesnt charge extra for polestar.

I guess the 2 litres are already well tuned putting out nearly the same horsepower as the old 2.4 D5 was so polestar not an option

The new D3 AWD appears to be the same engine as the D5 but with only 163 bhp? Why didn’t Volvo not just use the existing D3 2L engine which also produces 163 bhp?

good question why there are so many versions in the D3 band , i would think that extra 400 cc make the extra weight and friction of the AWD system disappear ...

actualy D2 D3 D4 D5 designation doesnt refer to the actual engine anymore , just the band of horsepower output ... that is why there are so many horsepower variations of D3 ..

Default 2.4l D3 Polestar tune?

I have been quoted €600 from Volvo in my area for a Polestar tune on my 2012 D3 Geartronic AWD.
This would incresase my HP from 163 to 210 and torque from 420nm to 440nm.

Any tips or comments from anyone who has experience or would recommend it?

From the numbers you quote this is for an XC60 ?
That is a 32% increase in PS, Stage 1 usually sticks to around a 20% increase, will the dealer complete a check of hoses etc before applying the map ? If it's La Linea then I expect they will find enough work to make the remap worth their while.

yes, its a XC60 with 2.4 litre, 5cyl diesel. From the specs they sent me, the other main difference is the torque max(rpm). This gets optimized from 1500-2000 to 1500 -3000 rpm.
I was just wondering how this would affect the driveability in combination with the geartronic?

Talk to the dealer would be my suggestion, maybe they have a car already with the remap. People in the UK have reported having two weeks trial, if they do not like it they can undo the upgrade, see if your local dealer offers something similar if they do not have a car available.
