Volvo V70 2013 D3. The headlight unit is easy to remove, just 2 "sliders" but what is the best way to free off and remove the headlight connector please? It's very stubborn !

I used a screwdriver to push down the tab, then GENTLY used a large flat blade screwdriver to lever the connector off. Not much force is needed.... Don't want to break it...

If it was a looong time since it was removed last time, some have advised a little help from WD40 (very small amount)...

I have only used a screwdriver though, and some tender wiggle.

There is a knack to it but once you have it it's quite simple. Silicone spray is advised though.

Ditto. Gently and carefully does it. I’ve recently fitted replacement headlamp units on my daughter’s XC70 and the sockets on the new units are even tighter than the older ones.

Thanks very much for the tips. I've found that both my connectors are somewhat broken, possibly from previous owners being clumsy with screwdrivers. The connectors are pretty brittle (that might be age) - a small amount of WD-40 made removal very easy in my case.

cut the old ones off and replace with new ones if they are already broken you have nothing to loose
