Fuel Filter 97 V70 2.0l
Hi All,
First post on a new forum I have aqquired a 1997 V70 estate with a 2.0l 10 valve petrol engine, apart from the rattles from a worn suspension I find the car very sluggish - my last car was a 2.5 V6 Mondeo estate. I have attempted to replace the fuel filter but cannot remove the old one, the Haynes manual recomends using a 17mm spanner to prize the connection back but both connections will not budge and I am afraid of damaging them. is there a knack to removing these? Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Wayne |

I too have a 2.0l V70, 1998. I would describe it as very underpowered. as you say, rather sluggish. Although your fuel filter may be clogged, I do not believe it will make significant difference to the performance when it is changed.
Some members on this site have used stop watches to check their 0 - 60mph times. In my V70 I use a calender! However, I love the motor, just wish it had a bit more pull, especially up the hills in Northumberland! Paul |

I got a mechanic to do mine as it hadn't been changed for 13 years.
We have some fittings like this at work and, even with fairly clean new ones, there's a knack to getting them off - for something that's possibly also corroded in and has such implications if you break the connector, I felt it was money well spent giving someone else the probem! |

Thanks Guys, I feel a little easier now, I will follow your advice and get a mechanic to swap it over.
