Default Levels ?

Could anyone advise me on how I check the aircon fluid level to see if it needs replenishing or not.
I have a year 2000 "W" V70 2.4 Classic.
Many thanks

The only way to ensure the levels are correct is to drain the system under vacuum and then replenish it; this has to be done by an aircon specialist; my local one charges £65 to do it. There is no way of checking the levels, there isn't a sight glass as there is on some cars, even if there was this really isn't a good indication other than there is or isn't some gas in the system. Regards, Jon

Default Cold ?

Hi Jon, Thanks for the advice. The reason I ask is the aircon fan, up about half way with the airvents open is not pushing out what I would call really cold air and assume, rightly or wrongly that I could be running out of gas.
I am sure I can find an air con specialist in my local area.
Thank you very much.

Kwik fit charge £45 (or around that figure) to clean out the system and regas it.

I had mine done tonight by a mate and even though I was getting cold air out, the system only had 320grams in it. Should have 750. Got it regassed and it gets very cold quickly now. Perfect now the sun has disappeared.

Dont wish to try and teach you to suck eggs but the there isnt a fluid level as such in an air con system, best way to check if the system is operating to spec is to record the temps that the system is delivering at the central vents ,with a OAT of around 70c and a humidity level of 60 per cent the system should be able to deliver air at around 45f at least, generally speaking the system shoud be able to reduce ambient by around 30f, however as im sure you appreciate humidity levels play a big part, hope this helps, if you need any further clarification dont hesitate to ask, air con systems can i know be rather baffling to the non techy types
