Hiya, just picked up this old thread. Am thinking of changing wheels. Could I ask what your experience was?

Thanks!

I know this ex-member via another Volvo group and know that the car was eventually fitted with 17 x 7 torque thrust 2 wheels and was on 100mm lower springs but has now been fitted with 60mm springs.

The car apparently handles much much better for just the 60mm springs. Tyres are 205-45/17.

This is the second car I know of in recent months to go away from 100mm lowering springs to 60mm. The owners both said the car handles better and is more usable on an everyday on Britain's wonderful roads.

Hope this helps your decision.

These are 205/45/17. I don't know how much the car has been lowered. See other pics taken at the Sywell meeting. 17"x7" have been used by quite a few Amazon owners and seem to work OK. I think 18" might cause rubbing problems as well as poor tyre choice. You would have to go below 45 to keep the diameter down.

Thanks very much for the really helpful information. 215/55/18 has been recommended to me elsewhere and they're comparison charts don't seem to show a massive difference in rolling diameter. Yet 17 inches still seems less aggressive. My Speedo already shows a 20% over-read, so rolling diameter doesn't seem to be an issue!
