SPA Adaptive Shadow Mask lights - different?

Our XC90 has adaptive shadow lights and they're amazing. Very bright, very good.

My new S60 also has it, but the design looks different.

The XC90 has sort of rounded cube things that pop up and down - they look a bit like ye olde flashcubes that you put on a 126 or 110 camera

The S60 doesn't appear to be the same design. It also appears slightly different in it's masking operation, and perhaps not quite as bright.

....or maybe it's me. Perhaps someone can illuminate me (boom boom!).

I think the XC90 when it launched used a technology that turned of light segments as opposed to the newer SPA platform that directs or shutters the beam...

I remember an XC90 my brother bought home and it seemed a lot more robotic/disco on the 90...

Does your car have headlight washers?

IIRC there is a regulation for LED lumens output where ones without washers have lower output.

2018 V90 has the ‘flying black box’ as you describe but also pushes the headlight beams apart so sit the car in front in a V.

Full led system. 6 dots. I have that extra. High led light package.

Thats right its an optional extra, in the UK that year it was part of the ‘Pro’ pack.
