Default V50 vibration under acceleration

Hello

I bought a V50, used to have a P1 V40 some time ago and missed the comfort of a Volvo. It's a 2.4 D5 with an automatic transmission. My problem is I have vibration when accelerating and when cruising at about 70 mph (significantly less than when accelerating though). What could cause this?

I have the same issue currently,. I've had front and rear balance but seems to remain. I understand if you feel wobble through steering wheel it's front off balance but through seat suggests rear. Not sure how accurate that is!

It seems to be the worst when accelerating from around 40 mph. Even the slightest touch of the gas pedal shakes the car a lot.

engine mounts or more likely driveshaft. This is assuming youve not got any fault codes indicating a missfire or other bad running. Also assuming your tyres are good, round and well balanced

Tires should be fine. I have no messages from the car and no check engine light so I don't think there's a missfire. How should I check engine mounts and axles?

its a pain in the arse tbh. The engine mounts often 'look' okay. you can rev the car with engine teasing against biting point with handbreak on. if mounts are very bad you can see emgine lurch and dive in engine bay. two man job obviously. They are pretty cheap and easy to do. If you want real volvo ones and can diy fit (just need a jack and a set of sockets) its under £200 to do all three. if they are very bad you also get vibrations at idle and stationary when reving engine. If the vibration manifests when stationary it rules out driveshafts probably.

The driveshafts from what I've read is more tricky.. they can seem fine but give bad vibration under accelaration. I've also read that if you push through the vibration and it goes away as you speed up past 70mph... (so bad vibration 40mph-70mph).. this usually means it is indeed the driveshafts. a bad wheel bearing can give vibration at speed but you can jack the car and press the wheel top and bottom to check for play in wheel bearings. if you search on here there are lots of threads on driveshaft issues.

just noticed its an auto.. I'm not familiar with these automatics but I suppose this could be source of vibrarion too if something wrong...

The shaking/vibration starts at around 60kph/40mph and does seem to get better at higher speeds so I´m leaning towards CV axles at the moment.
If the problem was the transmission then wouldn´t it also shake/vibrate the car when accelerating from lower speeds not only at around 40?

I think the auto will have a different flywheel set up to a manual, so I was wondering if related to DMF but this would be engine rev dependant rather than roadspeed dependant. Like I say I'm just not familiar with the autos at all so could be other causes I've no idea about. If you do a search on CV joint, drive shaft vibration on acceleration you will see people with similar symptoms to you on here, so its probs a best guess....

Put the car on a lift today and checked CV axles. Passenger side inner joint has a lot of play in it so that seems to be the issue.

Does anybody know how much gearbox oil will come out when changing the axle?
