Default 240 service due?

My 240GL E reg has been hesitant in the morning - especially when it rains or is dump - since March. After scaling down in gears a few time (or when the sun comes out) it gets going fine. It feels like having lost of bit of power but then I have had it for 2 years since I bought it from a dealer and have done absolutely nothing to it!)
When I turned to my local generic garage in London NW10 ,the answer I received was that it could not find a fault with it (sic!) but that if there were one and with the injection then it would not dare dabble with it! So I kept on running it.
What should I do? Who should be dealing with this hesitant running problem? what type of garage can I trust with looking at my car?
And why on earth could they not just leave the old manual chocke alone????

Sounds like ignition problems to me. A basic 'tune up' is a good place to start, air filter, distributor cap, rotor, plugs and HT leads. Get yourself a Haynes manual and some basic tools and you can do it yourself in under an hour. Your oil is also well past due for a change (every six months), this is also not too difficult to DIY. Your fuel filter is also due for a change.
Find yourself a decent garage or learn to DIY. There is nothing on a 240, including the fuel injection system, that any competent mechanic should not be able to sort out.
