I'm not saying its right (but I quite like the simplicity of it), its just fits with the minimalist and clean scandi approach. I agree it can be a little frustrating, if you really want something that doesn't fall within Volvo's interpretation of what owners want within each model.

I think trying to interpret Audi or BMW options where any number of combinations are available can be equally, if not more, frustrating too.

Yes, but at least they offer the options!
I have no real problem with the differing specs for various trims levels - indeed, most of it makes sense, but I just wish they would be more adventurous with the options list, especially as the reasons given for not offering certain features appear to be contradictory.
I didn't mention the rest of the story regarding my enquiry:
When I asked Volvo UK, a very polite chap admitted he didn't know the real reason for not offering a paddle-shift wheel on other trims/models, but he would find out, and assured me of a resonse asap.
Two weeks later still nothing, so I called again but this time got a snotty, supercilious, patronising git who basically told me "it is what it is" and to like it or lump it - and in future only trouble my local dealer with such trivialities - if I must.
I know they have a 'parts guru' at HO because I've spoken to him before on another matter but this time it seems he was in hiding, presumably being shielded from silly customers and their boring questions!
Nice attitude, Volvo UK.

Except you can spec up a Momentum to be very similar to an Inscription (for example).

My car was done that way. I actually prefer the low spec roof rails and grille, so it suits me just fine

Perhaps a UK thing, but here in Germany (as well in Sweden) an Inscription can be specced with a sport steering wheel from factory that includes paddles as well as optional heating, at least so on a 90 model.

As per usual, Volvo UK limits customers to the choices compared to the rest of Europe.

Thanks for confirming. As suspected - same old BS!

Yes, and I prefer the Momentum plain round tailpipes to the pseudo-Benz 'integrated' versions on every other trim.
Each to his own - nice to have choices!

Same here, my MY18 Inscription came with the sport wheel and paddles by order. It cost me less than 200€ (both) and it was available as an option for both Inscription and Momentum. Standard for R-design, as expected.

Yes. But again, without heating.

http://accessories.volvocars.com/de-...CC-498870/2017

One can also order the heated wheel, without paddles.

http://accessories.volvocars.com/de-...CC-498782/2017

....or a wood steering wheel! But you cant have heated wheel nor paddles with it!

Strange that one can order a heated sports wheel with paddles from new but not as an accessory.....usual Volvo crap! Most other manufacturers will offer what YOU (the customer) wants!
