2005 diesel S40 ignition/start issues.
Hi volvoforums,
I have a strange problem with my S40 and I hope a solution rings bells with someone. The car in question is a 2005 diesel S40 saloon. The issue is this - as soon as I connect the battery, the engine cranks but does not start - the key is not in the ignition! RAC has suggested its the ignition switch in the dashboard - a tricky (getting to) job but fairly cheap part to replace. The problem started when I went to start the car parked in a shopping centre car park. Upon starting the car (with the key) the central locking went 'loopy - open/close repeat', the dashboard lights flashed indiscriminately and the car cranked but no start. Had to disconnect the battery to stop it - no key in ignition! Has anyone experienced such a 'weird issue' and if so any thoughts on a fix. Thanks in advanced for any support. Cheers, James. |
