C70 locks. (or not...)
I've just part exchanged my XC90 for a 58 reg C70 D5. All good, until I got home half an hour ago. I hit the lock button on the remote/key, the mirrors fold, the interior lights go out and it makes a 'lock' noise. Unfortunately I can then go to it and open either door or the boot. When I do so the mirrors unfold... I don't want to leave it unlocked... What am I doing wrong? It's the same whichever of the two keys I use.

(a decade ago Clarkson was laughing at those systems exactly for this reason "how do I check if my car is actually locked" :P )

Yep, sounds like keyless to me. I didn't know the mirrors could be made fold when arming the alarm though.
Can you hear the locks moving when arming or opening the door when supposed to be locked? |

Would a C70 have keyless entry? My 11 reg SE Lux doesn’t, but the mirrors fold when the lock button is pressed though.
One thing I have noted is, at least when locking the car when the top’s down, it’s a while before the deadlocks operate, ie after about 20+ seconds, when there’s an audible click and the alarm sets. I’ve not noticed it when the top’s up, but this could be because the sound is masked by the closed car.

D'oh! At work today, paranoid about the 'unlocked' car, I returned to it to fetch something out of the boot, leaving the key in my jacket on my coach. I got a bit more exercise when I found it locked... Upon approaching the car again, this time with key in hand, I thought I'd just confirm that it was in fact locked, and... It opened, flashed the flashers and unfolded the mirrors just like it did last night. 'Dangit!' thought I. And then the penny dropped. I locked it, placed the key/remote a few feet away and went back. Locked. Bingo. Now I need one of those dial things so I can just leave the key in my pocket.
Isn't it nice when you find out something you've bought is actually better than you thought? The seller didn't know about keyless, or that it had rain sensing wipers... Anyway, thanks for the replies: you were spot on! |

[QUOTE=iantowil;2460890]Yep, sounds like keyless to me. I didn't know the mirrors could be made fold when arming the alarm though.
The seller wasn't aware of quite a few features: the six-disc changer (Oh; do they all go in there? While I demonstrated my XC90's High Performance Audio, which is similar); the rain sensing wipers (Me: Does it have rain sensing wipers? Seller: Don't know - don't think so...) I'm not entirely certain, but I think the mirror folding is a programmable thing. Says the bloke who hasn't yet worked out how to get the clock on the display... |

Yep. Sat nav, lovely soft cream leather (the car's black), nordic light oak waterfall console... No park assist though. Odd, that. Still, that can be retrofitted with an aftermarket kit I expect.

May also be worth checking if you have bi-xenon headlights if you haven't already. If so there'll no manual headlight levelling control.
