Default '98 tdi cruise retrofit: diy possible?

hello everybody!

to have a cruise control: it was my wish for a long time, but never really researched it...
i searched in the forum archives, and sometimes it's been said that the retrofit is possible only via ecu reprogramming by the dealer, sometimes that it's only a matter of installing the right parts.

i have a 1998 (march) v70 tdi manual, apparently with the MSA 15.7 (that leads me to think that it would be possible to add it without touching the ecu?!)

can anybody point me to what should i do? just ask the dealer and keep ready the wallet? is there a diy route? which parts should i obtain?

tia

On the TDI you will need a software upgrade to the engine ECU in addition to the hardware.

In view of this i would seriously doubt installing retro-cruise is worth the aggro, i have cruise on 2T5's and my 760 but never use it TBH...
Saying that i expect cruise would be more relevant on a TDi, depending on how many motorway mile you do....
Cheers
Jod
