4speed o/d upgrade - prop' shaft question??
Dear All, had a fun day yesterday, whipped out grumbling M40 4speed in prep' to install new 4speed o/d gearbox. The new gearbox also came with a Type2 front prop' section, the shorter type.
Q? how does the new short prop' fit to the Type1 body mounting? Is it just a case of removing the bearing carrier from the Type1, refurb the carrier, fit new bearing, then install both to the Type2 front prop'? Any advice greatly received Andrew |

Type 1 and 2 vary in how the flange connects to the gearbox and axle but use the same carrier. The type 3 uses the donut type carrier.
If you have type 2 and 3 you need to have the type 2 prop shortened iirc |

Thanks Swede, I have a type2 front, type1 rear. I'll re-measure the bearing carrier position and modify if necessary. Will report back when job done to help others.
