This is a very good question - I currently drive one of the last 'old' XC60s and am not sure I will replace with another Volvo. This is not because of any dissatisfaction with the XC60 (far from it) but rather all the current XC range feel overloaded with technology/features I am unlikely to use but am required to pay for to get the features I do want. Looks like I will be doing lots of research before I buy!

Yes I agree there seems to be a lot on current and ongoing issues and concerns wither the latest XC60 models which is slightly off putting and like you it is time to research

Not sure what you mean, I have no ongoing issues or concerns with my new XC60 - very pleased with it so far. I was very pleased with my 2 previous XC60's, but the new one is a real step up in fit and finish.

The problem is that most manufacturers 'tailor' the options list to make it difficult to cherry pick exactly what you want. JLR are the worst at this, locking out some options until you ascend the specification tree higher than you want to. Audi used to be best, as it was possible to option a Q5 SE to be virtually the same as a Q5 Sport without having to 'accept' the hard Sport suspension. Life was simple then with only an SE and a Sport to choose from, but then the options list was VERY long.

If and when Volvo get their petrol-electric plugin hybrid cars sorted and launched, I would certainly consider having another one.

The reason I moved away, having had & enjoyed two V60s in a row, was that Volvo did not have a competitive plug-in hybrid. The PHEV twin-engine V60s have ridiculously high lease costs and are crap on company car tax because they're diesels.

Having owned several Volvos, including picking one up from the factory in Gothenburg, I didn't buy another after my last V60. I was disappointed in the high depreciation and moved to well known German brand.

I'm going to have a serious look at a Skoda Karoq (XC40) or Kodiaq (XC60). They have a better range of engines, especially petrol, and the interior fit and finish is superb if a little unexciting. Had a look at a Karoq today and couldn't believe how up-market the interior looks.
