At least they gave me a thorough update today and did not try to fob me off.
Have to say that I quite like the new XC60 but the boot seems small compared to the V70. Also, it seems a bit of an effort having to use the touch screen for everything. It is more intuitive to me at the moment just to twist a knob to adjust the temperature.
use the voice control : " heat 20 "

Thanks for the tip. Voice control does make life easier (and safer!)
The V70 is still not back.
The dealer has said that the fuel is dirty (although they don’t think that is the cause of the problem) but are dropping the fuel tank and draining it as another precaution. They will update me further on Monday. In the meantime, I keep the XC60. Starting to quite like it actually!

Still not got my V70 back. Dealer doesn’t seem to a, have done much over the last week or b, got a clue.
Yesterday they were removing the fuel tank.
I still have the new XC60, but as it is “just” a D4 Momentum with winter pack and Polestar, I miss some of the bells and whistles of my V70 - particularly the adaptive cruise!

Have they any point removed the cam belt of cam shaft pulley? Oil leak in that area they could have done if it was more than just the rocker cover for example cam shaft seal? If it was a boost leak they surely would have found it by now. The timing being a fraction out possibly not, Just a thought.....

Still no further on. It appears that if there are no error messages on the car, no-one has a clue what to do, although they do accept that it is not right.
The dealer calls me occasionally to update me, (last thing was that they had escalated it to Volvo technical) generally only if I chase them, but I can’t be bothered with that so I am just racking up the miles on their XC60 Momentum.

Carry on as you are.....they'll eventually fix at and hopefully learn something at the same time.

Apparently Volvo have asked the dealer to remove and check the DPF and check both sides (intake and exhaust) for any blockages.

The car is a fairly high mileage car 2 years old with 60,000 miles (mainly motorway). Is that likely to be the problem?

Default Update

Following me writing to Volvo Cars, I have finally got a little more urgency in the case.

Having had my car for over 4 weeks, the Volvo Field Engineer, visited the dealer this morning to work on the car.

According to the email I have subsequently received from Volvo Customer Services, it is the injectors which are at fault.

Excerpt from Volvo CS email:-
“I have been advised the cause of the rough running was due to the injectors. There is a certain amount of time in which the injectors can be removed from the vehicle and refitted. Unfortunately during the repair of the rocker cover, the injectors were out of the vehicle longer than they should of been. There a new set of injectors have been ordered for your vehicle, in addition to this, the oil has been drained and new oil added.”

Is this likely to be the cause? If so it squarely puts the blame on the dealer (Bells of Northampton).

I have attempted to reject the car as, having taken so long to diagnose the fault, I have no confidence in the car, or the dealer. My suggestion that Bells (or Volvo) should supply me with a permanent replacement V70 or V90 with an equivalent specification has been turned down by Volvo.

Sorry but I just can’t see that been the case unless they were damaged whilst out the car. You disconnect them and unbolt them from the head I don’t see how them been out in the open air can damage them. There are moving parts inside the injector but these should be fine if they were fine before hand. There is only the injector tip and the electrical connection that could be damaged in there removal by a competent person unless I’m a fool and shouldn’t be working on my own d5s

There is something off here the car ran fine before it went in how can it be messed up so badly by a franchised dealer?? Are there any fault codes for the injectors or anything else?
