Yep, that would be why OEMs use 4300k and not the high temp blue ones that the powers use

All to do with what the mk1 human eye sees.

I stand corrected, I wasn't aware that they had now copied the H branding to the D lamps

Having just replaced a failed xenon, I can confirm that it is a fairly simple process and one that will save a fortune over dealer quoted price - £200 for one bulb and fitting.

Once I had identified that the bulbs were D1S I got a new pair from HIDS Direct http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/.

After speaking with them I chose to fit a pair of their MTEC bulbs, colour temp of 6000K at £75 a pair.

They were easy to fit and produce a much more pleasing colour of light than the original Osrams.

Also fitted new high beams in the corresponding colour. Bit more fiddly to get at but still an easy DIY fit.

200£ per bulb??? Woaaa! Shocking!

Btw, hope these mtec bulbs do have UV filter! Thats usually the issue with cheap bulbs - they dont block UV radiation which damages headlight reflective coating.
