Default V70 D5 SMF (also wanted)

Hi all,

Cheeky post as I've posted under 'wanted' section also.

I'm converting my v70 D5 (2003) to single mass flywheel while the gearbox is off for a core plug repair.

Can anyone advise on where to source the 850r flywheel? I can get the clutch etc. next day delivery from Volvo, however lead time for the flywheel is 2 weeks or more.

Any advice from folk who have already completed this conversion?

Hi I just was thinking you could ask a forum user on the T5D5 forum,
TIM WILLIAMS He is a mechanic and works on a lot of Volvos, and will be happy to talk on the T5D5 forum,
Dave

Thanks.

The gearbox is out - isn't particularly hard, but fairly lengthy. Took me about 6 hours on the drive with a couple of tea breaks.

Now i just need the flywheel

Hi ,
that's still good going on your driveway, did you have to drop the subframe,
is your car remapped, how many miles did your last clutch do,

also if you google about using a newer 185 model clutch , people say it will handle 600nm, and will fit with new 185 dmf, but you have to mod it as the flywheel ecu timing sensor metal part needs to be cut off and moved and
re-welded, as the 163 and 185 are in different places,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I ended up replacing it with a dmf in the end as I needed the car back on the road.

Original clutch lasted 155k with a rolling road bhp of 215 (but that was a maybe 5 years since and taken with a pinch of salt).

The clutch didn't die through wear however, it was contaminated when the core plug blew behind the flywheel.

All in, I think the work took about 12 hours - certainly not the worst job I've ever done.

Subframe was dropped dramatically on the passenger side, around 2ft (drivers side bolts were removed 2/3rds of the way to allow the bushes to twist).
Tuning wise, it has the larger of the two cats removed, rear silencer played with, cone filter and a remap - not a massive amount hence the pinch of salt with the rr results

Hi Thanks for the info, how high did you lift the car up?
215bhp is good for the 163 as the turbo is smaller then the 185
I got 208bhp and 440nm with a remap and hiflow panel filter
out of my 2002 d5, now I have changed the cat back to a 2.5'' with single box and I have upped the boost a bit more 23psi and fitted a 3bar map sensor so no bad boost spikes, don't want to push the turbo to far, so I would like to put it back on the dyno,
