Can someone advise please?
My 2016 MY V70 D3 auto had its 56000 mile service a couple of weeks ago. This Monday the car went back in for a couple of minor oil leaks (rocker cover and cambelt cover) which had been spotted at the service, to be dealt with.
As soon as I got the car back on Monday, it felt different - sluggish and unresponsive with definite loss of power and economy. Hills are hard work and pulling onto roundabouts or out of junctions is not great. Yesterday, I did a 300 mile round trip on motorways cruising at 70 which I would normally get comfortably over 50mpg from. Yesterday, however I was struggling to get 40 mpg. General town and commuting has dropped to 34 mpg. I suspected a turbo pipe had been knocked off or disconnected. When I took it back to the dealer today, they diagnosed a coked up EGR valve and cleaned it but advised replacement. Driving it home, it felt no different so it is going back tomorrow for the new EGR valve to be fitted under warranty. They are adamant the problem is not turbo related. When I plugged in my own OBD dongle (which I use for other cars in the family), it has diagnosed the following:- P0670 Glowplug control module - circuit malfunction P0235 Fuel and air metreing - Turbocharger boost pressure sensor - Circuit malfunction P2263 Turbocharge boost pressure - performance problem. Can anyone advise? TIA

I'd look for the boost pressure sensor and check it's not loose or have a broken wire.

I'm curious to know how they diagnosed that, assuming you mean sensor log data reading.... Or does this mean they pulled the main inlet pipe off and saw it was dirty inside ?
Should they not do a full diagnostic code reading immediately prior to handing the car back to you ? It would only take 1 minute wouldn't it ?

Some so called technicians take short cuts to boost their work output and mistakes can easily happen . Do a visual check for any plugs not reconnected . Point out your findings to them when you take it back .When they know your not a pushover they will be less inclined to bull**** you. If not happy with outcome take it to another main dealer as service can vary greatly.

The EGR valve was changed today and the car is (as confirmed by the dealer) still no better. They are having it back on Thursday as they think the rocker cover gasket which they fitted on Monday may have been faulty or has failed.
Really? My OBD reader is still showing the same 3 error codes.

The rocker cover gasket will have nothing to do with your problems, they might as well try refitting your floor mats to see if that helps. |

If they can't correctly fit a rocker cover gasket it's time to get a new dealer. Incidentally, as you probably realise, cambelt covers don't leak!

Change dealer . If its a Volvo warranty then any other main dealer should honour it. It sounds like your current dealer is rubbish. A faulty rocker cover gasket won't have any effect on running of a four stroke engine other than allowing oil to escape ! When you take it back next ask them for a V90 courtesy car and tell them you want to keep it until they fix the fault on you car properly . They might ,just might pull their finger out.

Update
The V70 went back to the dealer today after a frank email from me saying that I didn’t want it back until it was sorted. They accept that it is not right (which is something) but cannot seem to establish what the problem is. They have lent me a new XC60 until they can get my car sorted. At least they gave me a thorough update today and did not try to fob me off.
Have to say that I quite like the new XC60 but the boot seems small compared to the V70. Also, it seems a bit of an effort having to use the touch screen for everything. It is more intuitive to me at the moment just to twist a knob to adjust the temperature.
