S60 T5, M56 manual tranny noise in 2nd, 3rd & 4th
My 2001 S60 T5 with the M56L manual transmission, is making a grinding / crunching noise in 2nd, 3rd or 4th on acceleration or decelaration. Hard or light acceleration makes no difference.
In addition, it makes no noise when idling. No noise when coasting in neutral. Noise stops in 2/3/4 gears if clutch is pushed while car is rolling. No noise in 5th or reverse for sure. Cannot hear it in 1st. Transmission shifts fine, clutch engages fine, no issues with the release bearing. Checked the cables and the external linkages, they look good. fluid level is OK. Car has 79 K Miles. I posted this on the forum in the US but I am getting no answers, maybe due to this car being manual and everything else in the US being automatic. Any ideas!!! |
