V60 Intruder Alarm Problem

My car alarm activates at random times. I drive 60+ miles a day and the battery seems strong as the windows and tail gate move without any problem.
When I return to the car there is no message about the alarm and it also activates when the alarm is disabled via My Car option.
Any ideas?

I don't think you can fully disable the alarm, only set reduced guard which I think disables the interior movement sensor, useful if you were to leave a spouse locked in the car - obv not in summer though.

Also, you have to set reduced guard every time, it resets back to full guard every re-start.

I have heard that microwave ovens can set them off - they have microwave sensors for interior movement rather than ultrasonic. Does it happen when parked near one?

If none of that then you probably have a faulty sensor somewhere that only a dealer can fix. Bit of a trek to Inverness for that?

Just thought, if you are not getting a warning message when you get back to the car then maybe you're pressing the panic alarm button on the key fob by mistake? It's the button with a hazard triangle on it I've done it once or twice by mistake. Or a faulty key fob button...?

Try and narrow it down by putting one key in the microwave to shield it from the car, if you get no alarms swap over and see if the fault comes back. You'll then know if it's the key fob and which one is faulty.

This problem went away. Never got to the root cause.

You must have had a spider in the car crawling around and setting the alarm off. A BIG hairy one.

That’s my latest theory but it wouldn’t explain why there was no message on the dashboard when I returned to the car or why the alarm activated on the occasion of the reduced guard.
I’m sure the problem (or spider) will return.
