Default Possible solutions?

Where is/are the aerials that receive WiFi signals in the car
are they in the cab (so as to pick up WiFi from the iPhone)
how do the Volvo garages connect the car to their own network for sw updates.

Is there a ethernet connection socket in the car that a cable can be plugged into

Thanks for any clues
What frequency is your home Wi-fi network set to?
Many Wi-fi networks these days are dual 2.4 & 5GHz - if you try to connect using the higher 5GHz band I don’t think that the in-car network can connect at that frequency so suggest you use the lower older standard 2.4GHz channel.

Another angle is to check/change your Wi-fi network’s encryption security setup, there was another user with similar issues over a year ago who had set his network to the highest setting of WPA2 + AES, I believe when he changed dropped it down a level he was able to instantly connect his Volvo to his house Wi-fi network.
Let me if the above “clues” provide a solution.

I have 3 Wifi signals, two are password protected and one is not password protected but does not provide access to the internal network, so it just connects directly to the broadband network

This is interesting I've often wondered why the car won't directly pick up home Wi-Fi, can someone explain?

I have a TL Link wireless repeater that works great but looks like you can only use home wife to connect smart phone via Bluetooth why can't it be set to wife hotspot?

The other annoying thing is leaving the car to update, the car shuts down after a few minutes which is a pain, don't fancy leaving the engine on!

Let's hope volvo follows Audi and provides a massive data sim. I can see myself buying one of those horrible things next time

You’ll find that wife works best in the kitchen. I’ve never seem wife working well in a car.

Although some countries allow wife repeaters, they are not that common in Western Europe.
In the old days the original wife was ok for a long time but these days people are more likely to upgrade the wife to a newer model. The guaranty doesn’t last long though and the shiny newness wears off the wife quite soon.

Kitchen: A hobby room for ladies, (usually married) where they create dishes of bland tasteless meals from perfectly good ingredients, they then enjoy scraping the picked over remains into a waste receptacle before washing and drying the dishes and arranging them in cupboards that usually have a food processer/blender, a sandwich toaster, a Soda stream with and empty Co2 cylinder, a food mixer, a pasta maker, two other machines for slicing things into coils, rings or other shapes, a spinner to dry salad, all only used once, and several other items that are still in boxes unused.
Any food or other products etc must be arranged in top wall cupboards so any intruder into the hobby room who opens a cupboard door gets showered with items falling into your cereal bowl or coffee cup.
Food items placed in the cupboard must remain there until use by date expires then they are removed to the waste receptacle and replaced with more items ready for the next clear out.
I wont even mention the freezer.

I feel like I’ve stumbled into an episode of ‘Till death us do part.

I haven’t heard such misogyny since the 1970’s.

We Volvo Owners certainly have a good creative sense of humour amongst us.
Love the way this thread has metaphorised along the way into something totally different from the OP’s original question.......thank goodness this thread does not use the medium of Twitter or we would be all hung, drawn & quartered by our SWMBO’s by now!

Very whimsical indeed.
