Unfortunately if you block or partially block the holes it will mess up your disk cooling, fraid its a case of keeping on top of the cleaning regime

Keeping alloys clean
JM there are disc covers which keep the alloys clean but allow the discs to vent as they only cover the front portion not sure how much they are but I'd start asking the desk top racer brigade (the kids who buy the most moronic exhuast from Halfords for £29.99 and think they have a Subaru Imprezza although they really have a Ford Orion and play music which no other human or animal for that matter can understand)
Or check the intermernet for them |

Hi,
I have seen these plastic/nylon inserts advertised, not recently though. And yes they do block some of the airflow required to keep the disks and pads cool.. If you find them, and decide to fit them, it would be worth considering adding some means of directing some airflow to that area. Use a home made funney type affair to do it, securely fixed somewhere underneath.. Des. . .

Kleen wheels
Hi All,
I found the web site I was after re the clean wheels dust covers, they seem ok and would stop a lot of wheel cleaning, only got to do 20 miles with original volvo brake pads and the wheel is dark grey! |

I wouldn't be too happy having plastic next to hot brakes. Just seems a bit too risky to me.
Just get some decent alloy cleaner, Clean them off, and get some wheel wax. Applied and then clean your wheels each week, applying wax monthly. Keeps your wheels looking lovely and easy to clean too. I use the turtle wax wheel cleaner and a soft cloth to do mine.

Mine are the basic volvo alloys and they're simple too keep clean but I have to be honest I don't. I wash the obvious spots (the bit I can reach easily with a sponge) and leave the inserts well alone 10 holes with 4 edges each wheel compared with the rest of the car, SOD THAT I want a cuppa and a smoke instead. On my last Golf 16v I had BBS alloys on there and they were a true pain in the arse to clean, looked good finished though. Well they did when I bought the car anyway. ALi |

Get your wheels powder coated! Then it's a whole lot easier to keep clean. Works on motorbikes, commonplace for us two wheeled brigade, but something that gets overlooked more often as not by car drivers.

kleen wheels
they are internal hub caps and are made of aluminum, see the web site http://www.kleenwheels.com/ would only need them on the front wheels, don't know about you, but most of the braking done on the front brakes, very little dust on rear wheels.
Hope I'm talking sense? working nights at the moment and finding it difficult to get any sleep in this heat! |
