Vida/Dice buying advice
Hi,
I've recently bought a V50 2007 2.0D mk2 and I'm looking to buy a Vida/Dice for general troubleshooting etc. I found this on aliexpress and I'm hoping that someone will be able to say whether it'll work or not before I go ahead and order it. I'm thinking the first option (2014D full set) is what I'm looking for. Thanks much in advance, Teddy |

I would suggest buying a ready to go setup including the dice and a laptop running Vida.
There are a couple of sellers on this forum and also on eBay. It's not totally straight forward installing the software and getting everything to work properly (at least for me!) |

Thanks for the advice.
However, I already have a laptop that I've installed Vida on and just need the dice now. Living in Denmark means it isn't straight forward buying things from UK based members. Thanks to all those who voted for Brexit |

Not very clear what exactly you're buying from the ALI express web site though. |

having vida on a lap top is no guarantee that buying a dice unit will operate there are quite a few things needed to make it work plus if you do get up and running its not the easyest thing to work takes some time but it is doable there are plenty links and instructions available eg vida dice user group on face book

However, I don't want to buy something that doesn't work, particularly not at this price. On the other hand, I don't feel like buying a laptop with VIDA already installed plus the DICE when I have a functional laptop that I can use for the purpose. That just feels too much like throwing money out the window for something I hopefully won't be using more than a couple of times per year. I'm pretty confident I can make VIDA work as long as I can find a DICE that works. I've been working with computers and servers (including sql databases) and interfacing hardware professionally since the early 90s. However, I do not know if this particular Chinese DICE rip-off I linked to will work. I was hoping someone who knows more about this might be able to tell me before I go ahead and order one. |

Right, thanks!
I've just ordered the one I linked to now, so will see if it works. I'll report back. |
