Default Rear bumper guard?

Hi.

Having recently removed the factory fitted tow bar from my XC90 2003 (I don’t do towing nor do I like the look of a tow bar) I’m left with two slits in the bumper where the brackets would have poked through. I recently saw a video on YouTube about how to remove the rear bumper and happened to see that the bumper had a shield guard on it, just like the front bumper has. I can’t seem to locate this part online. Can anyone confirm this is a legitimate part on a similar aged model?

Cheers.

It is not a shield, as at the front, but part of the bumper, made of plastic. I don't know if you can get a new one separately. I'm sure a breaker could supply a used one.

It's a cosmetic skid plate. Fortunately they can be obtained on their own. They crop up on ebay fairly frequently, either as new parts, used parts or entire bumpers, or if you're
Inclined to pay for the privilege the dealer will sell you one.

There are different ones depending if you have a face lift XC90 or and older one.
The older one is a very different shape to the newer style one.

For what it's worth and save a lot of time and money, why not get a bumper repair kit, patch it up and spray with the same spray for the front guard? Details of the colour are in an earlier post.

Simply patch up the two slots, fare and then spray. It is not exposed where it is so will not chip the spray.

Just a thought, and it isn't as if we do not have the time!

I’m going to keep the tow bar just in case I do need to refit it with for something I might need it for or if I sell the car. Refitting the bar will be optimal then.

I’m still working, no time here lol
