Wheel vibration - sticky caliper?
I've got an intermittent wheel vibration on the front wheels. Only happens some of the time (so not a wheel weight missing etc). I also suspect I may have a slightly warped disc (sometimes a bit of vibration on braking). Is it worth relubing the caliper pins to make sure they slide freely (since the problem only appears occasionally) or is this a waste of time and effort?! Grateful for any advice.

If you have a warped disc, lubing the pins won't make a bit of difference. You need to replace the brake disc to solve that. However, as you have to take the caliper off to replace the brake disc, it makes sense to give all the pins a general lubing.
As for the other vibration you refer to, that could be tricky to diagnose. The first thing that popped in my head was wheel balancing. The other thing would be the tyres themselves, as in there may be flat spots.

I would say yes it is worth cleaning them
I have had a vibration problem in 2013 v60 that was definitely sticking front calibre.. It was a profound violent judder at speed. Obviously as a secondary problem this can contribute through overhot discs to risk of disc warp. Mine did. That’s an alTogether more gentle vibration which increases significantly on braking. Some people suggest it’s not even a ‘thing’ the disc will come back into balance as it wears down. I would suggest a warped alloy wheel as a cause. |

Thanks for the advice. Will look at the caliper but also the wheel too. Will the wheel give an intermittent vibration, or one that is permanent? At the moment, it is intermittent,.
