That grinding sound....
Hey guys! Hope you've had a good week and earned a few quid!
Well, I've got that lovely 'XC70 grinding sound' on acceleration and on right lock. Deducting posts from this forum, seems to be pointing it out as the splined sleeve. As the car runs fine, other than this, Can this be an easy (relatively) fix or will it need the transfer box overhauling? I've seen a place on eBay that will overhaul it for £250. Also, there's an intermittent fault with the 'Anti-skid requires service' light. It only comes on after prolonged driving or standing. It's very irregular. Again, I am hoping this will be related to the reluctor ring. I had the car scanned yesterday, using full VIDA, and there were no faults at all relating to ABS or haldex etc. Any advice, before I have to spend a fortune in getting it all stripped down, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Matt |

If it is the splined sleeve that you need to replace then this is not a small job.
Here a link to how this is done on the XC90 Don't think there is much difference with the XC70 but somebody with more knowledge on the XC70 might be able to tell you. The biggest problem is getting the sleeve off. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=254393
