Diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol in UK so goes some way to wipe out the savings if you have a diesel
The petrol engine is making a comeback , Manufacturers are using small one litre engines and turbocharging them and also using Direct injection , injecting petrol directly into the combustion chamber , like mitsubishi and volvo did 14 years ago . so the fuel economy almost matches diesels now .

I recently became the new owner of a 1998 Volvo S40 T4, which I adore apart from one thing... it is very thirsty. A bit of a shock after running a diesel Mercedes 190 for many years!
So I figure I have 2 choices... I trade it for something less beautiful but more economical , or I go the way of the LPG.
So my inevitable question is .. is my B4194 engine going to be OK with a conversion? And, if it won't have valve seat problems, what's the best manufacturer to go for?
Many thanks!
These engines do convert ok but I'd still suggest fitting a valve saver system to cover yourself. As to the best kit for the job speaking to installers in your country would be the best start.

Depending on your milage a derv could be the better option for you
