For the vibration issue, would it be worth slackening the top engine mount and the bottom tie bar under the engine and then retightening, as these are both on slots, maybe they are preloaded somehow? make sure the vehicle is on a level floor and that the gear lever is in neutral with the handbrake on, if its in park it could give a false position of the engine/gearbox.
I know its under warranty but sometimes its better to do it yourself? John |

Just reject the car as it is so new. Volvo have had 10 years to get this car right - if you buy new and it's faulty, dump it back at the dealers and ask for another one.
You are right, a £40 grand motor should not be delivered in this condition. I suspect that as Volvo are phasing the model out soon, they are making sure that they use up all the parts they have in store irrespective of age and condition.

There only sems to be negative comments on this thread so I'll post my positive one.
Picked up my MY13 Executive a month ago from Volvo export. Absolutely no problems. No squeaks, rattles or any other PDI failures. Polite staff, nothing was too much trouble for them (or at least they gave that impression, which is what counts). This is my 5th Volvo and, so far, the best. |

Do not get me wrong, we are happy with the car especially as a x5 would have cost twice what we paid.. |

Mine is 53 plate so a different generation but the only interior noise I have is a very slight rub from the steering wheel when going to full lock at very slow speeds. No panel noise no squeaky seats or noises from the engine. People who own newer cars of other makes have commented on how quiet it is. With a brand new car I would be sending it back for a replacement rather than to be looked at, offer to make your dissatisfaction more public than just these forums if they are resistant to replacing.

Just a quick update on my issues. I dropped the car off a planned and they had it for a week.
The front subframe mounts were changed and I had the Polestar upgrade fitted to try and smooth it out. The vibration throught the floor and pedals has all but gone. The vibration through the steering wheel is still present. If you hold the wheel for a period of time, it will give you pins and needles in your hands it's that bad. I had an 2009 "59" plate XC90 than I ran from new up until last Thursday and I never had this issue. Yes, I had the normal D5 vibrations on tick over etc, but not to the point it makes your hands tingle. The loan car I had for a week, a 2012 XC90 drove perfectly, If they can get mine to drive as good as that one, I would be more than happy. It's now booked in to my local dealer this Wednesday for them to investigate. |

Have now had car back three weeks from dealers after four visits, got Volvo involved as well.
Dealer has fixed the drivers seat squeak with lubricant and slightly re adjusting the plastic frame it sits in. Have had Polestar fitted and has completely solved the lag in pull away and the gear change is now seemless and smooth. I have to say a completely different car. Dont give up with the dealer, i have to say though my local dealer have been excellent in getting us to this point. note:-I was given a similar age and model to test against my own before the final fix and it was worse than mine. At long last i now have the vehicle i thought i had bought which is excellent and now a pleasure to drive. |
