weird noise solved?
Hi I had posted previously about weird noise from my 850, " Hi I have a 850 tr-5 1996 automatic model, its recently had a new radiator installed and has started to make a weird noise, only way I can describe it is sounds a bit like someone playing a kazoo. Had mechanic look it over and he changed the drive belt and tensioner, the timing belt was changed about 6months ago. When we got it back it was quiet but has started making noise again but not as loud, it's not constant after about 10 mins driving tonight it stopped, doesnt seem to get louder on acceleration". Yesterday my mechanic changed the oil seal on it and so far so good no noise, just thought i'd share incase any one else had similar problem.

Hi AJD
Thanks. Which oil seal was it that they replaced? Roughly how much did that cost? Steve

My 70R did this - turns out it was a faulty oil filter seal!! It was very audible on first start up, then as it warmed up it slowly got quieter. All very odd, but I changed the filter for a gen Volvo type and it dissapeared and has not returned since...

Could this be the noise my 2.5t is making?
From cold, mine doesn't make the noise straight away. It starts as it begins to warm up, then stops as the car reaches normal operating temp. Hmm, wonder if it would be worth changing my filter. |
