Default 2016 XC60 D5 SE Lux = What remap is best

Hi all, I'd like to get my 2016 XC60 D5 SE lux remapped. I don't want Polestar (Just too expensive for very little gain)..
I'd love a remap box so I can unplug when it's due for Service and just plug it back in afterwards so I don't lose the remap.. Which is best and recommended please?
I'm based in West Yorkshire.

Thanks

There's a garage in Leeds that does the RICA maps - a few people on here have used RICA and I don't think had any problems. You can also buy a tool to do it yourself.

Although Polestar at first glance does appear to be lots of money for little gain it does work.

My XC60 D5 AWD Auto with polestar flies when you stick it into sport mode (The polestar map remaps the gearbox as well).

The added advantage is it doesn't invalidate the warranty on the car (if it has one), It was developed to work with the car & not overstress any components.

Before writing if off give a polestar mapped car a try.

Big gains are all very well but you do need to be able to use them without damage to the car & premature failures.

If yours is the auto there is no way I would be going anywhere other than Polstar.

Remaps have always interested me but work friends have had A LOT of problems with them, often serious and I simply don’t believe the tuning company claims.

I would like a little more poke in my XC90 and would not hesitate to pay 4,5,6 00 for a bit more power but I don’t buy the hype.

It's worth mentioning that the Polestar maps are the only ones that remap the gearbox as well (on some later cars anyway). I think you can get one done on a 1 month trial as well.

On the earlier cars with the 5 speed AW55 gearboxes and 163 engine a remap is a no-no as those engines were already torque limited in 1st & 2nd gear to stay within the design limits of the gearbox.

Also on manual cars, with a remap that gives significant gains you also run a significant risk of premature failure of the dual mass flywheel (DMF).

So nice to see a number of others who agree that Polestar despite it's apparent little bang for lots of bucks is the way forward.

I do know I'm on my 2nd XC60 D5 Geartronic 1st was a 2012 Car with the later spec engine that went well with plenty of grunt in both normal & sport mode.

2nd car is a 2015 car bought from a deal under Selekt scheme, when I got it the polestar offer was on but part of my deal got the price down a bit further still. Got in the car & immediately could feel the difference even in normal mode. Sticking it into sport mode 7 the car really does fly. I now tend to drive the car in normal mode when just pootling around but am in sport mode 90% of the time when on a run, Fuel consumption seems to be on a constant 39 - 40 over the 35,000 miles I've covered in the almost 2 years I've owned it (Note MPG figures from On-Call)

Next car will also be optimised
