Hello all,
Apologies for the long post, I've got the module and I'm hoping to do this job on Friday when I've got the day off work but want to get my head around the entire process.

Can I check a few things with the more knowledgeable people on here.

Before I start I need to disconnect the battery? The instructions say:

Turn off the ignition and remove the key and wait at least a minute before you disconnect the climatization control panel. Do not turn on the ignition until climatization panel is connected back!
If you do not observe this then Airbag warning light turns on! It is possible to turn it off only by diagnostic.

But I thought I'd read I need to disconnect the battery as well to remove the radio? As in this video on youtube which shows how to remove the radio.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glvHx2bX5d0

(are there other/better videos out there showing how to remove the radio? this one looks good)

Is there a video that shows how to separate the phone unit from the radio itself? I assume it just clips together.

I've been through the installation instructions a few times and I think I follow them.

Once the new modem is in place I reinstall back in the car and connect all wiring harnesses before I turn the key/reconnect the battery. Where should I plug the connector in on the back of the radio? I've bought the y-split cable so I could use with the sat nav, but the sat nav doesn't work anyway. Would anyone be able to send me a photo of the back of the radio showing where I should plug it in?

My next question comes from the firmware upgrade. I think I need to pair my laptop first as I've got an iphone and it can't send the update.
After my laptop is paired I activate the update mode from the phone module and then send the correctly named file to the unit.

Any help is greatly received.
Thanks
George

regarding the battery:
if you are not sure then just follow these instructions:
- turn the ignition off before you unplug any connector
- never turn the ignition on while any connector is unplugged
in general you cannot damage anything (the car has a lot of fuses ). but for example airbag control unit does not like if any sensor, button, ... is disconnected. if it does then the message appears and it is possible to clear only with diagnostic. it is annoing, and it can also cost some money if you do not have the diagnostic.

regarding the update:
if you do not change it then automatic pairing is set as a default. so if you do not change it then you do not have to pair the laptop (or anything else) before you enable bootloader. but it is better.

Hi Marek, I've plucked up the courage and installed the module. As you said I didn't need to disconnect the battery, just make sure I keep the key out of the ignition. It all went very well in the end and I've now managed to pair my phone, make a call and listen to music through it. I am very impressed with what you've done to create this kit.

I do have one question about getting to point where I can update the firmware or make changes to the settings etc.

To begin with I disconnect everything:

Dial *** and then push the Green phone button - this stops the music playing so I assume the phone is disconnected.

I then push the green phone button and get this on the display:

https://ibb.co/PG5B6Mm

I then push the arrow left button and get this on the display:

https://ibb.co/C5GmTFX

I was expecting to see it say "1: Update" but it says "Search for:"
Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to introduce my product: Volvo BT Phone P2v2.
You can simply replace obsolete GSM modem in the PHM by this Bluetooth module. And you can enjoy these new features:

Hands-Free:
- it's not a GSM phone module anymore but Bluetooth Hands-Free with the use of original microphone (in rearview mirror) and speaker (drivers seat)
- contacts are read out from the connected cellphone (max. 350 - 500 contacts, depends on original GSM modem: Ericsson - 350; Wavecom - 500).
- maximum of 16 paired devices (just one active connection).
- automatic connection with last connected cellphone, if not find then it tries to connect to any paired
- incoming and outgoing calls on the Dashboard + you can see it also on the radio (if not muted, depends on settings).
- same control like before - buttons on Steering wheel and Phone module. Green button - accept the call, red button - reject the call
- DTMF tones are also supported

Music in the radio:
- you can listen the music from your cellphone in the radio (A2DP + AVRCP).
- you can set the module into following radio modes: CD-CHANGER (all HU radios supports it), MD-CHANGER (only HU-x0x radios) or SAT (only HU-x5x radios).
- Song ID tags on the radio. Spotify is working too. (MD-CHANGER or SAT mode)
- Remaining or total time (CD-CHANGER or MD-CHANGER mode).
- next / previous button on the radio or Steering wheel is working. In the SAT mode just on the radio.
- if you have the RTI or another device connected to the MELBUS, you need "Y" cable. It's not a part of package.

Another features:
- simple firmware update and extra settings via Bluetooth. You can use smartphone or laptop.

Supported cars:
- S60 (2000-2009)
- V/XC70 (2000-2007)
- S80 (2000-2006) - PHM with the SIM slot under buttons.

Caution: iPhone works well but it doesn't support send files via Bluetooth! For the first run you will probably need a laptop or smartphone with Android or Windows Mobile.

Firmware to download

Order form

Everything just by replacing one board in the PHM module. Nothing that marred the interior of the car.
hello Marekbm.

Did I understand that your device allows you to use the original volvo p2 phone in a bluetooth interface?

Is a software update required or is it plug-in?

in addition, does the voice switch from the radio to the phone call take place automatically, or should the source be selected manually?

if you see this then just press the green button and phonebook appears .
you can also specify (using PHMs keypad) what are you looking for. this is useful if phonebook has a lot of records.

it does not require any software update. just swap the original GSM modem by the bluetooth module inside the PHM .

but (advice based on some feedback) if you plan to do the "SERVICE 2.0" update in volvo dealer then do it before or put the GSM modem back before this procedure. otherwise the update can fail. it probably wants something from the GSM but i have not idea what. this service is not do automatically and almost nobody know it or the most people already done it.

i do not recomend to use radio speakers for the call (but it is available). the bluetooth module does not have echo canceling (as original GSM modem) so it is better to use headrest speaker or armrest headset. otherwise the other side can hear itself. everything works same like before so it is better to test how PHM works before update (with the SIM card).

if you use just PHM buttons (including buttons on the stearing wheel) for accept/deny/dial then the call is automatically forwarded to the car speaker.
if you dial the call on the cellphone then you have to allow the connection on the PHM (accept/deny virtual incoming call). if you deny it (or ignore) then the voice is available from cellphone. if you accept it then it is forwarded to PHM. if you deny it but during the call you want to forward it to PHM then just select the "bluetooh" (a speaker output option) option on cellphone and after that accept virtual call on the PHM.

new bootloader, some bug fixes (i hope than more than new ones). because i have working on the version for P3/P1 and XC90, where the almost same modem is used (just little bit newer than P2 facelift), the modem library was updated to support all these combinations.
i have tested it on my S60 (P2, first models) and S80 P3 and it works without problems. but if somebody has a PHM where the wavecom modem was before then send a feedback if everything works. but it should not be a problem because it should operate almost same like on P3.

v2019-12-19_1

fixed:
- if the call starts during contacts synchronization then it is terminated after all contacts are readout (without any impact of user)

news:
- you can see the synchronization progress. it is not operate fully properly on P2. for the status update on some models you have to manually refresh it (red button if you see "Sync. xx%" and green after that).
- the file name for bootloader activation changed to "bootloader.run" (was "boot_loader.run" before)
- the bootloader file name changed to "bootloader_p2v2.btb" (was "boot_loader.btb" before)
- support for P3/P1 and XC90 modem (in fact irrelevant information for P2 owners)

Hello Marek,

I just tested the new fw (2019-12-19) in my P2 Volvo, but I had some seriously issues.

I’m not sure what original GSM modem I had, but it’s labeled Q2406A-C.

I successfully flashed the fw to the BT Phone, but after that my phone is not showing up as paired on my dash.
And the BT Phone is stuck in the BT Phone menus. I then tried to unpair my iPhone from the BT Phone menu, but then it actually tried to dial that command as a phone number on my phone. The BT Phone where still stuck in the BT Phone menus, it don’t even says “Volvo BT”. I also tried to restart the BT Phone, but with no better result.

After some heavy tests I were successfully with reflash the previously fw to the BT Phone, and everything worked as before the upgrade again.

But I thought I should give it another try. But now after ugrade to the new fw the BT Phone is stuck with the message “Please wait…”. I can send files to it, but nothing happens. I have tested to restart the BT Phone and unpaired it from my compute and my phone, but nothing get it from the message “Please wait…”.

------

I decided to go out and make a new attempt to get it a third try, and now the "Please wait..." message disappeared.
But the BT Phone only says "Sync 0%", and the menus is still stuck in the BT Phone menus. And if i try to send the update command, the phone tries to dial the command.

But when I turned off my BT on my iPhone, the "Sync 0%" message disappeared, and I was able to send the "update" command to set the BT Phone in update mode, so I'm back with the previous fw again.

I guess it looks like the new fw is not working well with the Wavecom Q2406A-C modem.

it looks that the late

did you also update the bootloader?

the question is what the bootloader version was before. if newer (2018-12-31, +/-) the it is still easy to make it operate:
- insert key to ignition I or II.
- send "boot_loader.run", bootloader activation (before vb2019-12-08)
- send "bootloadet.run", bootloader activation (vb2019-12-08+), part of the latest firmware package
- send "btphone_p2v2.btb", firmware image. download v2019-09-05, it works for wavecom modems.

you can find the v2019-09-05 version here.

it looks than the last version is not works properly with P2 facelift versions (wavecom modems) from some reason. i have to find some piece and do tests.

for all wavecom users: do not update to v2019-12-19_1, use only v2019-09-05_1. or update to v2019-09-05_1 (including bootloader) and after that try to update. it is possible to upload the older version back if something wrong.
