Default Why no DRL in replacement front cluster?

I bought a replacement n/s amber/white cluster for my 1988 245GLT from a British supplier (Taiwan manufacturer). Unfortunately I was a bit dozy and trimmed the connectors off the wires before I realised that the new item did not include a DRL, so I assume I can't return it for refund. The wiring is not difficult, but if I fit this item, will it fail the MoT?

Did Volvo drop the DRL system from the 240 before the end of run??

Thanks for any advice!

On my 1990 car the "DRL" at the front consists of a 5W sidelight and the headlights on dim-dip which seems to be about half power.

So different to my 1985 car which just has the 21W sidelights for DRL.

Default Why no DRL . . .

Thank you, rusty 244.

I think the dim-dip system was required by UK regulations for a relatively short time. My new unit has the 5w single-filament bulb but originally my DRLs were 21w in a traditional twin-filament bulb which changed to 5w when headlights were on. Seems that I have been sold the cluster that would suit your 1990 car.

The tester's information on the internet seems to be saying that these classics do not fail on DRLs, but is there anybody out there who has experience of this situation, please?

Thanks Again,

David.
