have you EVER been in Sweden?

I'm Danish and from My house I see Sweden beyond the orresund.

1/ the southern part of Sweden is like Denmark regarding the climate IE mild winter an very little snow you have to go up north, like 800 km, to find very cold weather and lots of snow. for the time being the weather in Copenhagen is not colder than the weather in Paris....

average temp in stockholm
Stockholm Jan Fév Mar Avr Mai Jui Jui Aoû Sep Oct Nov Déc
Min (°C) -4 -4 -2 2 7 11 14 14 10 6 1 -2
Max (°C) 0 1 4 10 16 20 23 21 16 10 5 2

2/Norwegian drives Tesla and all sort of electric cars, mostly due to a very aggressive tax policy, NOT the swede, you have more TESLA in Denmark.

3/ in Sweden about one out of 5 car is a VOLVO

4/ The VOLVO are not ''tested'' in Spain, they are tested all around the world under various climate and conditions.

I'm now in the South of France, we had -6 during the night last week, very hot climate indeed, my preconditioning worked very well.

The traditional remedy was to rub glycerin into the seals.

Vaseline it not well suited where it can come in contact with clothing.
Talcum powder also "greases" rubbers, keeps them from sticking and is very easy to remove from clothing.

So then......

Are the stuck doors a lack of product development by Volvo?

Or.....

A lack of understanding of the need to treat the seals with a non stick product at the start of the season by us Brits who rarely get much in the way of a winter?

As for me, I just trigger the on board heater from my phone in the morning and 20 mins later get into a car with no iced up doors.....

I don’t think it is just Volvo that suffers from this problem, and it only takes 10 minutes to take preventative measures by wiping the door rubbers with a silicone product a couple times during the Autumn/Winter month’s.

Thats what I do, its essential on cars frameless doors, nice to have on these machines.

Never had a car that didn't suffer to this to some degree.

I have a latest XC90 (MY18) and can confirm that this problem still exists. It was a cold morning today and when I tried to open the rear door to swap the child seat, it wouldn't open. The door had slightly moved (from flush position) but won't open. So now it wouldn't lock when I tried to lock it using key. The parking light , interior lights and daylights were all on. So I was worried about battery dying. I didn't trying opening any other door.

I remember seeing this thread before but never read it. I ran back inside and read the forum and realized that the problem is mainly with rear door.

So went back and tried the driver's seat and it opened fine. I switched on the heating and heated windscreen waited for 5 minutes. Then tried the rear door again but it was still jammed.
Went inside took a bottle of lukewarm water and poured over the rear door seals. Tried again and the door opened.

Thanks to the forum, I didn't damage the rear door by trying too hard.

put silicone grease on door seals couple of nights ago after another round of frozen doors but not had a wet day/frosty night yet to freeze them shut again.

Will report back.

There is a real risk of breaking the door handles pulling on them, this happened to me last year after pulling to open a frozen door the handle would not go back flush to door and I had to have it repaired.

Also with the very cold spell the rear window heater melts the snow and ice which runs down and re-freezes in the gap between bumper and tailgate.
It’s not difficult is it , Simply coat the fraying surfaces of the seal with a decent silicone grease...Preventive maintenance it’s termed i believe
