Winter tyres
I have a petrol 2019 XC60 T5 and wish to make up a set of four steel wheels fitted with snow tyres sized 235.60.R18.
I can source the tyres readily but does anyone know where to find suitable steel wheels? |

In this section were are indeed dealing with analogue rather than the digital (!)
I have seein steel wheels being offered along side winter tyres in Holland. I suspect that's the same in the UK. In Holland and many places in the UK I'd opt for all season tyres in preference to the fiddle of changing wheels. "Real" winter tyres might be worth while in areas of high elevation but here in Holland I'd only ever buy them if I had to go to Germany where you can end up in trouble if you don't have them. In the UK the insurers used to be rather pedantic about "modifications" whereby just a simple change in wheels could effect a claim. So I'd check with the insurer - they might specify "special" Volvo steel wheels...

My local tyre depot take off my summer tyres store them for free over winter and put on my winter tyres. They swap them back in Spring.
Charge is just £20 to do the swap which includes new valves and balance each time. Much cheaper than having a spare set off wheels and tyres.

Why on earth would you want steel wheels when decent secondhand alloys are available?
Personally I agree with having a separate set of wheels with proper winter tyres, so long as you have the storage space.
