Default 480ES 2.0i Cooling fan cut in temperature?

Hi all,
I have just bought a 1993 480ES 2.0i Ltd.
It's my second 480, the last one being an 1987 1.7 a few years back.

I am just curious at what coolant temperature the fans should cut in at?

Mine hit 100.c today before bringing the fans in and dropping it to 85.c in about 1 minute. Seems higher than I'd expect, although I realise that it won't boil due to the coolant addative and the fact it's under pressure in the system. (Boiling point 108.c @ 14lbs pressure for plain water?)

I've just come from a Peugeot 205 - they don't even have a temp guage, it just flashes a light when the coolant hits a danger temp.

Can anybody fill me in?
