Default oxygen sensor fault

Please help. I'm at my wits end....Having paid an independant dealer over £130 to fix my oxygen sensor, the engine mgt. light is still on.I've run thru the fault codes and am getting 2-1-2, which is 'oxygen sensor signal absent or faulty'. Desperate to fix it I've bought another from Euro Car Parts and am still getting the light on.I can't go throwing good money after bad and I love my yellow T5R estate so this episode is enormously frustrating. I already have one mortgage and can't afford another one to fix my baby.... A volvo main dealer checked the codes for me, (9 minutes and £30)to confirm what I already know, they deleted the codes and the light went out for 50 miles & then came back on again. Despite following the instructions in the manual I cannot now delete the codes .... If you can help, please do.

I'dont Know if people are allowed to give out their phone no. but if we are then contact me on 07980 669275 or 01905821816. or email geofbarker@hotmail.com

thanks (a million).

There are a number of possibilities, not in any particular
order:

1 Wiring fault
2 ECU fault
3 Faulty / incompatible replacement sensor
4 Air leak into induction or exhaust.

My best guess is that you are trying to fit an aftermarket
sensor to this car and the characteristics don't match the
rather exacting onboard diagnostics of the Motronic 4.3 ECU.
If you have the original sensor look for the 10 digit bosch
part No. on it and get one from your local bosch outlet. It
will cost you about £100. This will be a direct fit.
Also look for air leaks particularly at the various rubber
elbows in the vacuum system.

If you have the equipment and are able to do the electrical
tests, e-mail me directly and I'll look out the test sheet I
made up when mine failed.

Just to relieve the pain on your wallet, if you haven't fitted sensor no. 2 you could take it back to Euro Parts and say it was unsuitable for the purpose and could they exchange it for the correct Bosch model as above.

Mention the Club in this conversation, since they have close links with this and other specialist car clubs...
